Double page focus group

I asked a group of 3 people what they thought about my double page article.
Is the article relevant?
They all replied that it is relevant to the genre and that it is good to talk about the music.

Is the picture layout appropriate?
They replied that it is as it stands out and makes it look like a proper article.

Can you tell what the house style is?
They replied black red and white. As this looks appropriate to the rest of the magazine.

Does it fit in with the rest of magazine?
They replied that it was relevant as the house style is thought out the magazine.

Contents page changes

 The only change i had to make was the guitar photo to be a little smaller as it covers the mans face.

I made the guitar a little smaller and now you can see the man properly.

Contents page questions

I asked a selection of 4 people 4 questions about my contents page.

Can you see any relation to the front cover?
They said that they could see the relation between the contents page and the front cover with the title.

Is the layout of the image appropriate and why?
They said that the guitar photo could be a little bit smaller as it is cover the one mans face.

Dose the white background reflect the Genre and Brand identity?
THey said that it was very relevant as they cant see much white anyway.

IS the use of headers for the news appropriate to the genre?
They said that it looked like Kerrang which they said is good for the genre.

Front cover amendments

This is my magazine before i had to make the amedments which were to move my splash down so it didnt cover his face. Also i had to change the red banner in the bottom right hand corner as it is hard on the eyes.

The first amedment i made was moving th splash down as it means the customers are able to see the central images face all the time. This is to show the customers what the central image is as he will be the main focus of the magazine.

The second amedment i made was the red box under the image in the right hand corner as it was hard on the eye to see. I toke the red back ground out and change the colour to white. This is becuse it is good on the eye and easy to read now.

Design of Double page

With this title for the double page spread i had to link it with the rest of the magazine so i used the same fonts and same colours. This is a good way to link it with the rest of the magazine.

The picture i chose is relevent to the article as he is an upcoming artist and they are going to have a good profile. As well as this i made the black and white of the photo but left michael in colour as it will mean he knows he is the focus of the article.

I also then added some more photos on the right page to show that the whole article is primarilly about michael. As well as this i noted that it was an exclusive interview as no other magazine has had an interview with him yet.

As you can see this is my finale double page spread as th article is there to make it complete. As you can see the article is all about michael and it talks about the music his band play as this will draw his fans in to the magazine.

They replied with it being rock and roll which is the correct genre

They replied with Powerful, Bold and rocking
This is useful to know as it means that i am on the right track with my central image to make it look like a rock magazine.

Is the layout appropriate to the genre and why?
They gave me a few things to change as they mentioned that the slash needs to be lower as it is not to block the central images face and the red block of text in the bottom right hand corner to as it is painful to the eye.

Dose the House style match the colour red,white and black?
They said yes it dose very well

So with this feed back i am going to change the splash and the red box to make it more appropriate.

Design of my contents page

As you can see the layout and font of Contents is the same as my front cover this is to relate it to the front cover. Also the Contents is in the centre of the page to relate to my research in to content pages.

What i added next was the articles and this was to relate to the front cover because of the house style as it is red white and black again. Also i relate this with my reserch because it is in the same layout as Kerrang.

 The pictures i chose to be on my contents page are all relative to the articles on the left and this is good as it gives the audience a sneack peak into what the articles are about. As well as this i related it to my research because all the pictures are on the right hand side of the page.

This is my finale contents page and i added a little diffrent things to relate it to my reserch. I added the issue number by contents like Kerrang. And put page numbers on the photos to relate them to the articles.

TIme management

I Am still a week behind as i have spent more time on my front cover and contents page this means that this week i am going to complete my contents page and my audience feedback.

Time management update

I am not up-to-date with my blog because i haven't done the front cover feedback so at the moment i am on my contents page and looking to finish that this week so i can do the feedback next week on the front cover and hopefully my contents page.

Front cover development

 This is a screen shot from my development of my front cover with an idea of where my masthead should be and the style of font i used.









The splash that i have chosen is relevant to the picture that i have because the picture is of a local artist going to a gig.

As you can see my puff is a free 15 track CD which is to promote the local artists.

As you can see from my cover lines i have made this magazine available to every type of audience. This is because i have included articles from main stream and undiscovered acts.








The picture i chose for my image in the bottom right hand corner of the magazine was a image of two people looking like they are enjoying a local gig with an anchor. The anchor says enjoying the event which could mean that it is a local event with undiscovered acts.

The price of the magazine is £2 which is what my target audience said as this is a reasonable price for a starting magazine.









This is my complete article as the photo is on and i believe this relates to the audience as it is a local artist rocking out.

This shot could be used for my front cover as it shows us that the person is using a guitar and that it could be seen as him outside a local event or gig as the headliners or support bands.

 This is a photo of a local rocker stamping his mark in the rock industry this is beacuse he is doing the iconic rock poss with the guitar in hand.

 The way this was shot makes it look like the person is about to do an insane solo. This is a good shot as it shows us the posture of the person and the way they are holding the guitar.

 This is a shot to show us that the person might be thinking about a new song like he is in a isperation stage. This is a good shot as it means he is taking care of the songs he writes.

This was another idea for my front cover as it shows us two people that may have just come out of a gig as the one is doing the iconic rock poss with his hand. This shot also looks like they are enjoing them selves as well.

Clothes

This is What i thoguth the person on my front cover could were as it might show us that they have been or going to a gig.

 This was a full body shot of some clothes that might be worn on the front cover.

 I thought that the idea of clean shoes portrays the fact that the rocker may have money so i thought this was a must.

















I thougth that if they wore a coat on the front cover like with some other rock based magazines it could show you that they have just been to a gig.















I had the idea that if they wore this type of coat it could portray them as beeing a bit cool and just starting out.










Props

This is a standed prop for any rocker the guitar and this isa nice clean one. As you can tell this is well kept and probley only used for gigs.















Location

 I thought that this location could be the set of a gig in the background so i thought that if the person was stood infront of the castle then it would look like they are going to a gig or just left one.

 This location was chossen as it is quite and not to busy so it would be the perfect place to snap the front cover. As you can see it also looks like the road to stardom as is they are heading towards being a big mega star.

This is another shot of the castle from a diffrent angle this is again to make it apper that they are going to a gig or just left one.

I have completed all of my work so far and am going to create the mock up this week and then start to develop my front cover.

Time management

At the moment i am on time for all of my work and will continue to stay on track as you can see i have just completed the pitch feedback and am going to do the Style sheet followed by next week completing the design of the front cover.

Pitch feedback

As you can see i showed my audience the pitch before i shot the pitch feedback.

From my feedback i am going to call my magazine origins as it is unique and most appropriate for the target audience.

They said they would like to see posters, stickers and competitions so i am going to include some of these in to my magazine to draw the target audience.

With my focus group i am going to use the red white and black as it is more appropriate for the target audience and they can see it as more professional.

The double page article will include either a interview with a local band or a local band member

The price will be £2.00 for the magazine as it is a new and unique magazine.
